It’s been three weeks since my last blog. I apologize. It has been a very busy time for me–two or three workshops and one or two weddings a week plus life coaching and spiritual guidance. I have also published Sikshastakam: Sri Krishna Chaitanya’s Teachings in a paperback edition, 20 pages, $3.00. I also continue to work on social and political issues to try and reclaim this nation from the neo-cons.
This has become a very personal issue for me since my son, who is in the Army National Guard, left for Fort Bliss, Texas, July 1st, to begin his training to go to Baghdad, November 1st. I find this very upsetting. Today, I’m meeting with another Guardsman who is being sent to Iraq and wants to get married quickly before he leaves, like my son did. Of course, one of the main reasons for doing this is that they don’t know if they will come home or not and want to make sure their partners are entitled to benefits. It is not right sending our young people to Iraq to fight an unjust, illegal war based on false pretenses.
I see the November presidential elections as one of the most important events in the history of our nation. We cannot allow Bush to rule for another four years. I am very disturbed by those who say there is no difference between Bush and Kerry and plan to vote for Nader. There is not as much difference as I would like, but the differences are significant. I have lost all respect for Nader, especially since he is now openly being used as a Republican ploy to take votes away from Kerry. Wake up people!
God help us all.
